Sturm Graz terminates Schwarzenegger

Arnold Scwarzenegger’s decision to allow the execution of a California inmate has led to the dissolution of his relationship with his hometown club, Austrian club Sturm Graz.

The actor turned Governor of California controversially refused to overturn a death sentence for former gang member and convicted murderer Tookie Williams. Scwarzenegger called the club himself to request his name be removed from Sturm Graz’s stadium. The ground will now be known as UPC Arena after the telecommunications firm won naming rights to the stadium, which will be used in the 2008 European Championships.

“Schwarzenegger has proven that he is truly the total dolt that he plays in his films,” read a recent e-mail signed "Mario" on the Web site of daily newspaper Kurier. Graz mayor Siegfried Nagl tried his best to patch things up. “Whenever he returns he is still welcome to sit down with me for a bite of apple strudel,” he said.
