Football Federation launched an inquiry into mafia involvement

The Federation decided to open an inquiry after transcripts of telephone conversations tapped by Turkish police in their investigation into the affairs of suspected mafia boss Sedat Peker, were published in Turkish media. The transcripts lead the impression that the Peker family had a major influence on the matches of teams in the Turkish Superlig. The clubs mentioned involved included Besiktas, Samsunspor, Rizespor, Akcaabat Sebatspor and Diyarbakirspor.
