St. Gallen sign stadium naming rights deal with AFG

AFG Arbonia-Forster-Holding AG (AFG), one of the leading manufacturers of construction equipment in Europe, signed a naming rights deal for the new football stadium in St. Gallen. From now on the stadium will be called AFG ARENA.

Construction work on the AFG ARENA began at the end of 2005 and the stadium will be officially opened in summer 2008 for the Euro competition. The naming rights contract however covers the construction phase up to 2008 and subsequently the first 10 football seasons until the middle of 2018, with the possibility of prolonging it.

Dieter Froehlich, FC St. Gallen Chairman and Vice-President of Betriebs AG Stadion St. Gallen, the company which owns the stadium, stresses the importance of the partnership with AFG: "We are extremely happy that in AFG we have been able to find a reliable long-term partner for our stadium project so quickly. For us, AFG represents the best possible solution which is why the new home of the FC St. Gallen will, logically, bear the name of AFG ARENA." It has been agreed to remain silent on the subject of finance.
