EURO 2008 should generate a reported EUR 1.05 billion from TV and sponsorship alone.
That is an increase of more than EUR 300 million for the 2004 edition of the tournament.
Global TV and new media rights sales are around EUR 800 million, which is 76.1 percent of the total revenue. That is a jump of more than EUR 240 million from the last tournament, in 2004.
UEFA can attribute its decision to sell on a market-by-market basis for helping the jump. International sports marketing agent SPORTFIVE conducted the sales. EUR 476 million are coming from the five major European markets.
The Asian market and new media sales also helped jump the tournament's financial profile.
This year's tournament is expected to generate EUR 250 million, compared to EUR 183 million for the 2004 tournament.
