More British clubs in competition will mean more for the ticket touts.
An estimated GBP 10 million will be made in extra ticket sales, with Scottish Rangers in the UEFA Cup final against Russia Zenit St. Petersburg, and English Chelsea going against English Manchester United in the Champions League final. Tack on the FA Cup final between English Portsmouth and Welsh Cardiff City, and there are many matches of interest in the Isles.
Ticket values are up to 2,000 percent higher than face value. It is estimated that 80,000 tickets are not going to the clubs or fans, meaning more could end up in touts' hands, squeezing the market.
Ebay has been trying to crack down on illegal sales, including offers for the UEFA Cup final that reached GBP 520 in Canada and Ireland. It is illegal to resell football tickets in the U.K. unless it is through an official third party.
One problem is that touts are setting up disreputable overseas operations and sometimes taking customers' money without delivering the goods.
Match tickets aren't the only thing in demand. Train companies and airlines have also seen demand for their services soar suggesting fans will have to pay top price for their travel.
Virgin Trains said tickets on its trains travelling south from Scotland were booked.
