Capello will face trial for false testimony

Adjust font size: Decrease font Enlarge font
Fabio Capello now is looking at a full investigation into whether he withheld information from an Italian court.

Capello, the English national coach, was warned at the end of March that prosecutors planned to bring a case against him for implementing unfair competition through the use of threats or violence, as part of Italy's Gea World sports agency.

The prosecutor now has reviewed transcripts and records and said he will pursue the case.

Capello coached at AC Milan and Juventus, the latter of which was deeply tarnished by the Italian football scandal of two years ago. As a witness in March, he denied he was involved with Gea.

Capello could face as much as six years in prison for false testimony.

The English Football Association offered up no comment on the matter.
