Manchester City go ahead with Asian tour

Adjust font size: Decrease font Enlarge font
English Manchester City will go ahead with an Asian tour despite boycott threats. It just may do so without some players.

Players on the club have threatened a boycott because the future of manager Sven-Goran Eriksson has not been settled.

"The media speculation does not affect the visit," spokesman Paul Tyrell said in an e-mail sent to Thai media. "Mr Eriksson will be attending.

"(The club) have made no comment about the manager's future. Dr Thaksin has stated there will be a full review at the end of the season."

Reports coming from Eriksson agent Athole Still are that owner Thaksin Shinawatra, an ousted Thai prime minister, could sack Eriksson. That has angered fans and players.

Thaksin gave no comment on Eriksson's future.

After Thaksin took over, he desired that the club should make inroads into Asia, and become a team for that continent to hold to.
