A close race for promotion to the English Premier League means many clubs can see an influx in money in their futures.
Eight clubs enter the final week with promotion hopes, all angling toward what will be worth roughly GBP 20 a year on average, and as much as GBP 35 million for the first year. A promoted club can expect GBP 30 million in TV revenue, and another GBP 5 million in additional merchandising.
Even if the stay is not long, a GBP 12 million parachute payment eases the fall back to the second tier Championship. It's not bad heading up to the Championship, either, as League One clubs can expect a 30-percent revenue increase for heading up to the second division.
