Hearts owner comments to be reviewed by SFA

Not only did Roman Romanov's remarks at Scottish Hearts cost him in the eyes of the shareholders, it could cost him when the Scottish Football Association reviews the words.

The chairman went off on a tangent at the Hearts AGM, with comments that seemed off kilter and all over the place.

But Romanov, the owner's son, may have hit a nerve when he suggested the league was always rigged in favour of Ranger and Celtic. He said his club was "screwed" by referees.

The General Purposes Committee is set to convene at Hampden. Its members will review those comments, despite it not being on the agenda. He likely will be asked for clarification. If his explanation does not hit the mark, punishment will be meted out.

The elder Romanov — owner Vladimir — took a GBP 10,000 fine last year with an online slap at referees. An additional fine was levied for the club carrying those remarks online.

The most recent comments stemmed from a contentious meeting in which supporters questioned the direction of the club with a down season and mounting debt.
