Chief executive Rick Parry isn't worried about Tom Hicks' calls for him to resign, saying the English Liverpool board has not made the request.
Hicks, a club co-owner who has disenfranchised fans with his actions and held up a share sale by co-owner George Gillett, had pressed Parry to resign in the latest club power struggle.
But Hicks doesn't seem to have board support for the move, and Parry knows it.
"It's for the board to ask me to resign and they haven't," Parry said. "I'm accountable to the board and this is not something the board has discussed with me."
Parry has become the latest pawn in the war between Hicks and Gillett, who bought the club 14 months ago but now have been at odds. Gillett supports Parry. Hicks does not.
Parry also took the opportunity to show his disappointment in the way Hicks has consistently aired the club's dirty laundry in public. Hicks' latest gaffe was publicly asking Parry to resign.
Hicks cited lack of major sponsors and lack of overall pitch success.
Hicks insists he will buy out Gillett after blocking the latter's sale to Dubai International Capital. He also has turned away offers of a buyout from DIC. Supporters' groups want him out, especially with his debt-laden buyout burdening the club. He seems to be missing the point that the supporters aren't supporting him.
