In another subplot to the English Liverpool owner debacle, George Gillett accused fellow co-owner Tom Hicks of fermenting the trouble that has beset the club, and vowed not to sell to him.
Gillett tried to sell his share of the club to Dubai International Capital, but was blocked by Hicks. DIC also tried to buy out Hicks, but he has turned down even very profitable offers.
With Hicks claiming to be in the process of preparing a lucrative offer for Gillett, Gillett said he would not sell his half of the club to Hicks.
Gillett said the worst part of the public feud was Hicks' call for chief executive Rick Parry to resign.
Hicks now is trying to pander to the supporters who dislike his tenure. He claims he will give manager Rafa Benitez a short extension, and claiming the botched recruitment of Jurgen Klinsmann was Gillett's idea.
Gillett also is playing to the fans, saying he will not sell to Hicks, who might be the only person associated in Liverpool who is less popular than he.
