Hicks exerts more pressure on Parry to leave Liverpool

The mess at English Liverpool grows deeper, as co-owner Tom Hicks called chief executive Rick Parry arrogant, said the club had not won enough under his guidance and suggested again that Parry resign.

Hicks added that Parry did not communicate well with manager Rafa Benitez.

"Rick Parry has been Liverpool's CEO for 10 years and we haven't won a league championship under his leadership," Hicks told the Mail. "After watching him operate, I came to the conclusion it was time to ask him to resign, due to his inability to manage an organisation, his seemingly arrogant attitude to our supporters and his lack of communication with Rafa."

As has been the case with Hicks, when he goes one way, co-owner George Gillett goes another. Highlighting the divide between the owners, Gillett defended Parry and said the Liverpool board must entirely give its consent for Parry to be fired.

Hicks, who has blocked Gillett's attempts to sell and has held up negotiations with Dubai International Capital for the sale of the club, said he wanted Parry out and a replacement in by next month so a new CEO would be in place for financial and transfer reasons.
