Chaos in Liverpool

While Dubai International Capital (DIC) announced it has withdrawn from its planned bid to buy English Liverpool, Share Liverpool FC supporters' group is trying to hold discussions with the club's owners.

The turmoil took another turn yesterday (Thursday), when co-owner Tom Hicks asked for the resignation of the club's chief executive Rick Parry.

The on-going feud between American co-owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett resulted a “very difficult and complicated situation” and has led DIC to shelve its plans.

According to DIC chief executive, Sameer Al Ansari, no deal will possible until the pair will sort out their own differences.

“You have two partners who do not see eye to eye. And we decided that we pull out completely. Let them sort out their problems,” Al Ansari told the Arabian Business Magazine.

“We will continue to be interested and would love to own the club but we are not going to put ourselves in a difficult situation where we make the investment but we have no control over the destiny of the club and we cannot influence the success of the club,” he adds, insisting the deal can only happen for the “right reasons”.

“Unfortunately, the terms that have been put on the table do not allow us to do that,” he says.

Meanwhile, Share Liverpool FC, the club supporters' group, is trying to hold discussions with Liverpool's owners.

"We have got to approach the current owners, that is what we have to do now," Rogan Taylor, who leads Share Liverpool FC, told the BBC. "I can't say how, or through whom, at present, but we will be approaching them to try and set up talks, and let them know our intentions."

In another boardroom twist, Hicks has wrote a three-page letter to Parry asking him to step down from his position.

It was Parry who brought Gillett to the club 18 months ago, with the American bringing in Hicks. While the relationship between the pair has spectacularly broken down, Parry found himself at times in the middle, and now Hicks believes that Parry is siding with Gillett.

According to the BBC Sport, Hicks believes the club is falling behind the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea and that the club needs a fresh injection of commercial clout in an attempt to boost their off the field revenue.

According to Hicks, Parry, who has been at the helm at the Anfield club for 10 years, failed to exploit potential commercial earnings at the club, failed in his relationships with sponsors and lacked in his communication with manager Rafael Benitez that has led to failures in the transfer market.

Parry, who has no intention to resign, said in a statment: "It is my intention to remain focused on the job of serving Liverpool Football Club to the best of my abilities at this very important time of our season."
