Despite broadcast rights being sold collectively in Belgium, Belgacom, the country's telecommunications group, has opened negotiations directly with clubs, instead of with the Belgian league.
According to Le Soir newspaper, Belgacom approached Standard Liege and offered EUR 8-9 million for the club's home matches TV rights in season 08/09.
Belgacom holds the TV rights for the whole Belgian league since 2005 to the end of 07/08 season, paying EUR 36 million a-season.
