Scottish Hearts lost GBP 8 million for the year ending 31 July 2007, adding to what is expected to be a record debt of GBP 37 million.
As the club has not officially released the figures, there was no explanation forthcoming as to why the debt had risen dramatically.
Some reasons for a slight rise could be attributed to an increase in wages and planning for a new main stand. Interest to creditors could be another.
Goalkeeper Craig Gordon was sold to English Sunderland for GBP 9 million in August, which should alleviate some of the debt during the next fiscal period.
Debt and a tough season have caused some supporters to waiver in their support of owner Vladimir Romanov.
