Anti-trust regulators looking at Bundesliga TV deal

German anti-trust authorities see some issues in the new Bundesliga television contract.

Officials said the EUR 3 billion deal will only be allowed if small clubs get more of the money. Leo Kirch's KF15 company offered a big revenue boost with the contract, which is spread over six years.

The agency has investigated the central marketing policies of German top division clubs for several years. There recently were raids conducted at German football offices.

The league has split contracts between first- and second-division clubs. Four-time European champion Bayern Munich has demanded larger shares in the past, claiming its TV income is small in comparison to the major European clubs.

The club has wanted revenue to boost from EUR 25 million to EUR 100 million. Club president Karl-Heinz Rummenigge, however, has backed a mix of private and central marketing. He has said he does not want to see smaller clubs suffer.
