Anschutz plan to sell San Jose Earthquakes

Adjust font size: Decrease font Enlarge font
Mexican Primera Liga team Club America owners are close to buy the franchise of the Major League Soccer club from its owners Anschutz Entertainment Group. Club America officials are keen to follow fellow Mexican club Chivas into the MLS and are believed to be interested in purchasing the rights to an expansion franchise should its bid for the Earthquakes prove unsuccessful. However, any sale would almost certainly see the franchise re-locate to another part of the USA, with Houston seen as the most likely destination. Final decision will be made at the end of the current season, though any decision to move the franchise could depend on whether the MLS insists on the club using a soccer-specific stadium to play its home games.
