UEFA refs favoured goal line technology aid

Adjust font size: Decrease font Enlarge font
Goal line technology might soon find its way to UEFA, as the organisation's website reported its leading referees favoured the new aid. But it was more of a case of them not disliking the new technology.

The technology has a chip implanted in the ball that will emit a signal if it crosses the line.

At a UEFA course for referees in Cyprus, officials objected to an on-site replay monitor and a fourth official, but gave approval for the technology help. The question was posed to 51 referees if the goal line chip was "a bad idea". None of the 51 referees present said it was.

Despite UEFA.com's bright spin on matters, it doesn't mean overwhelming approval. That just means referees don't think it's a bad idea.
