Everton plan for its new training ground become uncertain
England - 06 September, 2004
A change in Liverpool City Council residential plans, which follows government guidelines restricting the number of new homes that can be built outside the city centre and in some inner-city districts, jeopardize the £10m project for the Premier League club’s new training facilities. The club had hoped to win planning permission for a housing development on its current Bellefield training ground in West Derby to help finance the new facility at Halewood. The sale of Bellefield was estimated to generate around £12m, but without housing development approval, the site’s value would significantly drop.
