Dutch league has big year ahead

Adjust font size: Decrease font Enlarge font
The Dutch football league is approaching a pivotal new year, with the league talking about contracting the amount of clubs in the top tiers, and researching how to establish its own television network.

Some clubs may also pursue betting licences, looking for yet another revenue source.

And, before any new network kicks off, the Eredivisie has a new TV contract for tender. The league is rated at the most valuable media property in the Netherlands. Eredivisie polls show high demand for live league matches and, more importantly for pay TV, the desire to pay for them.

The league claims at least half its fans will be willing to pay EUR 15 a month for live matches.
