FA panel to hear Sheffield United arbitration plea

English Sheffield United still will push their case for compensation following their controversial relegation, this time taking it to a Football Association tribunal.

The club tried to get back into the Premier League over the summer, claiming its relegation from the league was due to West Ham violating league rules in the Carlos Tevez signing. West Ham was fined, but not docked points. That made the difference in Sheffield United's relegation.

Sheffield United appealed the decision not to dock West Ham. That appeal was denied.

Sheffield chairman Kevin McCabe at least wants financial compensation, and said the club's case will be heard in 2008.

"If you say that the Championship playoff game is worth GBP 60 million," McCabe said, "and Sheffield United's attendance last year was 31,000, with full hospitality boxes and restaurants and broadcasting income, you would say compensation is around GBP 50 million."
