Celta Vigo blames ex-directors for financial mess

Adjust font size: Decrease font Enlarge font
Spanish Celta Vigo's former directors blamed president Carlos Mourino and vice president Ricardo Barros for the mounting debt facing the club.

The top tier of leadership originally blamed former board members and former president Horacio Gomez for the mess, which has a debt approaching EUR 55 million.

Current board members are preparing documents for the next shareholders' meeting to prove the club was in financial difficulty at the time of the handover.

"Were they florists or did they just not realise anything that was going on?" former board member Fernando Mosquera asked rhetorically "They're putting the fan against their own faces. One of them was in the previous administration for eight years and his father was there many years previously. The other one was on Horacio's board for three years. They were the ones signing off the accounts."
