Tottenham Hotspur rakes in record profit

English Tottenham Hotspur set records off the field with all-time highs in profit and turnover. The club also announced it has reviewed sites for a possible new home.

The fiscal profit ending 30 June 2007 saw a massive jump from GBP 600,000 to GBP 27.7 million in the course of a year. Turnover was up 39.1 percent, jumping to GBP 103.1 million.

Operating profit also soared, hitting GBP 32 million, a rise from GBP 4.6 million. Basic earnings turned a profit of 20.4 pence as opposed to a loss of 1.7 pence last year.

The record results were attributed to a successful season with UEFA and FA quarterfinal showings, record TV revenues and income from two main partners – shirt sponsor Mansion and Puma.

There is also the matter of new stadium and training sites.

"Review of stadium options is now substantially complete and a limited number of potential sites have been identified in the London Boroughs of Enfield and Haringey, including the expansion possibilities of the existing stadium," read a statement from the club.

The club has submitted a new planning application to Enfield for its training centre. That will be heard in November.

"Our priorities for the club are focused on continued development of the first team where we have built an exceptionally talented squad, progressing our state-of-the-art Training Centre and the development of an improved, larger stadium," club chairman Daniel Levy said.
