FA says Leeds needs to stop fighting penalty

Adjust font size: Decrease font Enlarge font
It is final for English Leeds United – stop complaining about the 15-point penalty and start trying to work back into the upper-tier.

Leeds lost the appeal of the penalty but said it still would fight it. Club officials believed they could take their case to an independent panel, but the Football Association has let the club know it is time to end the matter now.

"Leeds United have been informed by the Football Association that they do not believe it appropriate for there to be any further inquiry into the decision and the process adopted by the Football League surrounding the club's 15-point deduction," read a statement on the club's website.

Shaun Harvey, the club's chief executive, said he believed the FA was wrong in its heavy-handedness.

"We will fully reflect on this surprising decision and are taking the advice of our legal team," Harvey said. "We will not be making any further comment at this time."

Manager Dennis Wise has stated he believes the club needs to earn 105 points to win League One.
