Vestel severs seven year sponsorship with Manisaspor

Vestel, a large Turkish electronics corporation that has sponsored Turkish Manisaspor, has severed its seven year relationship with the club.

The club's chairman, Haluk Çubukçu, said complaints of unfairness in Turkish football led to the end of the contract on August 29 after "the latest events."

In one week, six out of nine matches ended in a stalemate and the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) made a decision to replay the Trabzonspor-Sivasspor match.

"The TFF decision taken on August 28 has left a black stain on Turkish football," said Çubukçu. "We have never won a single point with relationships off the football pitch."

He also said some people are dominating Turkish football and he hoped a just administration would come to power.

Çubukçu was referring to the TFF ruling that the Trabzonspor-Sivasspor match would be replayed after fans invaded the playing field. Last year, Manisaspor goalkeeper, Bülent Ataman, interrupted the match against Sakaryaspo, the match was called off and the TFF decided to hand a 3-0 defeat to Vestel Manisaspor.

Those two decisions have the Manisaspor board upset.
