Not content just to miraculously have his club back, English Leeds United chairman Ken Bates is trying to get his penalty for insolvency wiped away.
Bates said he will appeal the 15-point penalty to the Football Association. Leeds received that after Bates put the club into administration and, due to questionable handling from administrator KPMG and the backing of a mysterious creditor, was able to twice repurchase the club.
Football League chairmen upheld the penalty at a meeting earlier this month, citing the club's descent into insolvency. The club had barely made it into League One, needing to be granted the club share.
In his typical attempt to rile the masses, Bates posted his response on the club's website.
"The 15 point 'sanction' is a scandal and a travesty of justice," it read. "We are appealing against that decision to the Football Association but, meanwhile, will get on with the job of strengthening the team and getting back firstly to the Championship and the Premier League."
