RTR Sport, a Russian broadcaster, has landed the rights for the first time to Italian Serie A football, in a deal with Media Partners & Silva. The agreement was brokered by Acid Sport.
RTR Sport will broadcast Serie A from the upcoming 2007-2008 season to 2009-2010, sweeping the rights away from pay-TV channel NTV Plus.
Media Partners & Silva trumpeted that all viewers in Russia would have access to Serie A matches.
"Holding the exclusivity of all the Serie A for Russia, we are delighted to work with RTR Sport, the national Russian terrestrial sport channel, enabling the best exposure ever for Serie A in Russia," said Riccardo Silva, president of Media Partners & Silva. "Every Russian household will be able to enjoy Serie A for the three coming seasons."
RTR Sport also will distribute programming from the Milan Channel in Russia.
