With a projected 2007 deficit of USD 1.5 million, CSKA Moscow has the best balanced budget in Russian football.
Expenditures are forecast at around USD 51.4 million while income is expected to be USD 49.9 million.
Business daily Vedomosty mentioned that CSKA is closer to breaking even than any other club in the Russian Premier Liga.
Zenit Saint Petersburg has a budget of around USD 70 million for the year, Lokomotiv Moscow USD 60 million and Spartak Moscow USD 50 million.
Zenit only earns some 20 percent of the budget thanks to tickets sales, TV rights sales, parts of sponsors' contracts and transfers. The rest is being covered by shareholders from owner Gazprom and its subsidiaries.
Lokomotiv covers only around 16 percent of the budget by itself.
CSKA is the only one among Russia's top clubs that has sponsors not directly connected to the shareholders. In 2006, the club struck a sponsorship deal worth USD 20 million with VTB bank.
