Nike the biggest endorsements sponsor in 2003

According to a report published by Sports Marketing Surveys, the US athletic shoe and apparel maker had spent over $US 328m in football endorsement deals on 2003. Nike's main deals for this period are the team sponsorships of English Arsenal ($US 210m) and German Borussia Dortmund ($US 51m). In addition, Nike stroke deals as the Turkish and Mexican national team sponsor, the English FA official ball sponsor, and the New Zeeland football league sponsor. For personal sponsorship Nike signed deals with England's Wayne Roony ($US 5m) and MLS player Freddie Adu ($US 1m). Adidas the German shoe and apparel maker had spent over $US 177m, followed by US Reebok $US 166m and Italian Diadora $US 62m.
