PUMA sue FIFA for € 2m

German sportswear firm Puma has filed a € 2m lawsuit against football world governing body in the latest twist to the row over the strip worn by the Cameroon national team during this year’s African Nations Cup, courted controversial with its body-hugging one-piece design. Puma was left fuming after FIFA outlawed the outfit • and then initially imposed points penalty on Cameroon for its 2006 World Cup qualifying campaign, putting a huge dent in the nation’s hopes of reaching the finals in Germany.  Cameroon was originally hit with the penalty after continuing to wear the Puma strip despite being warned by FIFA chiefs. The intervention of African soccer federation CAF eventually overturned the point deduction. Now Puma has asked a German court to rule on a damages claim.
