Antalya reaps income from football tourism

Adjust font size: Decrease font Enlarge font
One of the most favourable spots for pre-season training camps of late has been Antalya, Turkey.

Almost every Turkcell Super League team arranged a winter training camp in the Mediterranean province during the winter break, including Galatasaray, Besiktas and Trabzonspor.

An estimated 1,200 teams will hold training camps in Antalya between January and the end of March.

Also, the Efes Cup 6 tournament, which is held in Antalya, starts this week at the Kundu WOW Football Center.

First Division sides Besiktas and Galatasaray will compete for the title along with German Werder Bremen and Dutch Feyenoord.

With the training camps and tournaments, officials estimate that EUR 36 million in football tourism will pour into the area.
