FIFA does not have to comply immediately with a New York district court ruling that blocked a FIFA sponsorship deal with Visa in favour of one with MasterCard.
FIFA had requested that its appeal be granted a suspensive effect so that neither MasterCard nor VISA may demand fulfillment of the sponsorship contract while the appeal is in progress.
The court had earlier overturned FIFA's sponsorship deal with Visa, ruling that senior FIFA executives repeatedly lied to Visa and former sponsor MasterCard.
After the ruling, FIFA fired four employees for dishonest sponsorship negotiations.
