CSKA pays incentives bonuses to other clubs

Russian CSKA Moscow president Yevgeny Giner admitted paying incentives to other clubs so that they would play harder against his club's rivals.

The practice is not outlawed, though the idea of paying incentive bonuses to other clubs has been labeled unethical and against the ideals of fair play by FIFA and UEFA.

"I don't see anything bad in it," Giner said to the Sport-Express newspaper. "Many people say that such thing is incorrect. I don't think so. More than that, I could openly say how much would pay and also tell tax authorities where I get the money from."

CSKA clinched its second consecutive league title this past weekend but the victory was overshadowed by allegations of match-fixing in Russia this season.

The army club has been accused of benefiting from questionable refereeing and a conflict, as Giner also is the league's boss.

"Someone might think that if CSKA paid money to a club, then next time that club would throw a game playing against us," Giner said. "But I don't see anything wrong with (giving bonuses to other clubs)."
