SPORTFIVE, the international sports marketing agency, sold the television rights to Poland's Puchar Polski football cup to ITI Neovision for the 2006-2007 through 2008-2009 seasons.

ITI Neovision will air the contests on its new sports channel "nSport."

"We will broadcast all Polish Cup matches in state-of-the-art HDTV technology and intend to establish ourselves as the sports channel with the top content - not least by broadcasting the UEFA Champions League," said Maciej Sojka, President of ITI Neovision.

"Together with the Polish football association PZPN and the "nSport" channel, we drew up a concept that will additionally enhance the appeal of the Puchar Polski," said Robert Mller von Vultejus, Executive Vice President of the SPORTFIVE group. "The planned restructuring of the tournament is seen as another innovation in the efforts to reposition the Cup."

Some of the changes that will be made include the quarter-finals being moved from winter to spring, and the final will be a one match playout instead of a home and away.

The best part is the grand finale will be held on May 3, Poland's National Holiday, and will be broadcast free-to air on TVN.

In addition, Puchar Polski seeks to increase its brand presence with a variety of marketing activities.

"This deal is a milestone in boosting the appeal of a historic tournament like the Puchar Polski - both for the participating clubs and for viewers," said Eugeniusz Kolator, 1st Vice President of the Polish football association, PZPN.
