David Beckham took in GBP 19.7 million last year from earning accumulated from previous years.

Accounting records from Beckham's company revealed the payout for football's second-highest earner in the world. The earnings were from endorsements, including Procter & Gamble Co.'s Gillette razors and Adidas AG sportswear.

The accounts were made public on the Web site of Companies House in London.

"These accounts are a reflection of Footwork Productions' continued strong performance," said Beckham spokesman Simon Oliveira.

Beckham's spokesman also said the figure was high because Beckham only paid himself GBP 100,000 the previous financial year.

Beckham, 31, fell from his three-year reign last year as the sport's top earner to Brazilian Ronaldinho, according to France Football magazine's annual rich list published in April. Ronaldinho more than tripled his income to EUR 23 million euros.

Footwork's accounts don't include Beckham's salary from Real Madrid, which is approximately EUR 6.2 million according to Spanish media. It also does not include joint work promoting perfume with his wife, Victoria.

Beckham also runs Brand Beckham, which holds the copyright to his latest book.Victoria has Moody Productions, which is responsible for the income from her pop career.

Beckham said he would fight to regain his Spanish Real Madrid place after being a substitute for most of the season. His contract expires next June and he'd be free to negotiate a transfer from January.

Beckham stood down as captain in July after England exited the World Cup.
