UEFA approves beer puring for FC Copenhagen

Carlsberg, which sponsors Danish Copenhagen, will sell its beer at Parken Stadium at upcoming Champions League matches.

UEFA told the Danish champs, who have Carlsberg's name imprinted on their shirts, that they could sell light beer at their upcoming Group F matches against English Manchester United and Scottish Celtic.

Fans, who can buy beer at Danish League games, were shocked when the club was allowed to sell only non-alcoholic beer at their first Champions League match against Benfica.

The UEFA ceded when Copenhagen officials protested that local custom "required" beer consumption during games.

England's Liverpool, who also carry Carlsberg's name on their shirts, does not sell beer to fans during their Champions League games.

The situation was difficult because rival brewer Heineken is one of the six major league sponsors.
