Krylya Sovetov VP under investigation

The vice president of Russian Premier Liga club Krylya Sovetov Samara is being investigated by authorities for criminal activity related to finances.

Alexander Solovyov, vice president of the Premier Liga club since July 2005, is suspected of concealing assets while maintaining sizeable tax debts.

Russian press reports said Solovyov paid off EUR 134,000 to creditors through a support fund rather than through the club's accounts. The law provides that the money should be used for tax payments first.

The club's tax debt is GBP 546,000. The press-secretary for the club told the Kommersant newspaper that he does not know of any investigation into Solovyov.

"All the debts were incurred by previous managers," the press secretary said. "The outstanding debts will be paid off by the end of the year."
