BBC has not shown evidence to Lord Stevens' team

While BBC has touted its investigation into bungs payments, but has not or has been unwilling to hand over any evidence to the English Premier League.

The league encouraged the Panorama programme to send over any relevant information.

Panorama has been working on the sting operation in which agents and managers, including Portsmouth's Harry Redknapp, were tricked into discussing investing in an international sports agency, since last November.

In July, programme makers approached the Premier League, who directed them to Lord Stevens, the former Met Police commissioner employed to examine almost 400 Premier League transfers. No information, however, was passed to Lord Stevens.

Selective leaks have implicated one agent, Peter Harrison, allegedly discussing a number of deals in which bungs were involved. Other high-profile figures said to have been caught in the sting – such as Bolton manager Sam Allardyce's agent son Craig and Sven-Goran Eriksson's agent Athole Still – likely received letters from Panorama inviting them to comment.

There is no suggestion at this stage that anyone is guilty of any wrongdoing. The programme is scheduled to be broadcast next Monday but its content is yet to be decided, as lawyers have been vetting the show.
