The MLS Houston Dynamo are examining a football-specific facility for the club.
"It is an important priority for us," team president Oliver Luck said. "What I'm doing right now is identifying where there are some opportunities. There are some suburban possibilities and inner-city opportunities. We're just trying to identify where we may have some potential public partners who are interested in working with us, the AEG, to figure out what makes sense."
Other MLS clubs have had success with football-specific venues, and that makes Luck believe his club has a chance at such a thing.
"I feel pretty positive we can get something done," Luck said. "When you look at what Chicago has done with Toyota Park in suburban Bridgeview, what Denver is doing in Commerce City with the Colorado Rapids, you look at the Home Depot Center and Columbus Crew, there is a lot of optimism. What Dallas has done in Frisco, what a great little venue with 20,000 plus up there
"My sense is we can put a nice deal together that makes sense with the public partner and AEG and all the soccer fans in the area because soccer is a great game and we deserve a great venue."
Luck also claimed that to boost attendances the club needs to reach out to a wider audience.
"We have a great soccer crowd, we need to reach past the aficionados of the sport," he said. "We need to be top of the mind for folks
