AT&T and GolTV today announced a distribution agreement to deliver GolTV’s programming as part of the U-verse(SM) TV channel lineup.

Under the agreement, GolTV will distribute its football (soccer) programming lineup to AT&T U verse TV customers, including more than 1,500 games a year — broadcast in English and Spanish — from the top leagues around the world, live matches, daily soccer news shows, highlight programs, and historic and commemorative specials.

"AT&T U-verse TV is committed to offering the very best in entertainment and sports to our customers," said Dan York, head of programming of AT&T Operations, Inc. "We’re proud to connect soccer fans with exciting, bilingual soccer matches and programming from GolTV."

"Our network offers U-verse customers the best in the world of soccer, including exceptional proprietary programming that allows the fans to follow their favorite teams and players," said Enzo Francescoli, founder and CEO of GolTV. "We are excited to bring GolTV’s passion for the sport to the AT&T U-verse experience and to further diversify our customer footprint by delivering programming to U-verse customers."

AT&T U-verse TV is delivered by Project Lightspeed, the company’s initiative to expand the fiber-optics network deeper into neighborhoods to deliver U-verse TV, AT&T Yahoo! High Speed Internet U-verse Enabled and, in the future, Voice over IP services. Through its subsidiaries, AT&T expects to reach nearly 19 million households by the end of 2008 as part of its initial deployment, using fiber-to-the-node (FTTN) and fiber-to-the-premises (FTTP) technologies.

Financial and other terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

Through its Project Lightspeed deployment, AT&T will deliver a whole new portfolio of integrated, digital TV, high speed Internet and voice services - all under the AT&T U-verse brand. The company's new network platform, based on Internet Protocol (IP) technology, will enable a new level of service integration and features for its new U-verse communications and entertainment services.
