Sport 1 has joined MTV as UEFA's broadcast partners in Hungary for UEFA EURO 2008.
Public channel MTV is the main official broadcast partner, and was granted exclusive live broadcast rights to all matches in the final tournament, which runs from 7-29 June 2008. In order to enhance coverage of the competition, UEFA granted Sport 1, the main sports channel in Hungary, the rights to broadcast all 31 matches from Austria and Switzerland on a delayed basis.
"MTV is Hungary's most experienced broadcaster in the coverage of major sports events and a long-standing partner of UEFA," UEFA Chief Executive Lars-Christer Olsson said. "We are also pleased to welcome on board Sport 1, Hungary's most popular sports channel, as a new partner to the UEFA European Championship. With MTV and Sport 1's combined coverage, we are providing Hungarian football fans with a great broadcast platform that will enhance their experience of UEFA EURO 2008."
The broadcast rights to the UEFA European Championship are being sold on a market-by-market basis for the first time in the tournament's 46-year history. SPORTFIVE is UEFA's exclusive sales agent for the UEFA EURO 2008 European broadcast rights.
