ITV will hold exclusive broadcast rights to show the UEFA Cup quarterfinals, semifinals and final in the United Kingdom between 2006 and 2009.
The free-to-air partner for the UEFA Champions League, and recent broadcaster of the UEFA Cup final, outbid rivals to secure the package for a three-year term. ITV will utilise all its distribution methods including primary channel ITV1 and digital channel ITV4 to broadcast all matches and highlights every matchday starting with the quarterfinals.
It will also have the rights to show the UEFA Super Cup in 2006, 2007 and 2008.
"UEFA is delighted to continue our long partnership with ITV and welcomes the broadcaster's dedication to developing the competition in the crucial UK market," UEFA Chief Executive Lars-Christer Olsson said.
