FIFA announced a record number of visitors to FIFAworldcup.com, breaking the mark set in 2002.
In 2002, the site attracted just more than two billion page views for the entire tournament. This time, it is already halfway to that mark after only one week.
With 1.2 billion page views, it is the largest one-week total in the history of the site. The most successful day to date was Monday, 12 June with 226 million page views by 6.2 million visitors. Overall, an average of five million fans have visited FIFAworldcup.com each day during the tournament.

More than 600,000 fans have signed up to play fantasy football on FIFAwordcup.com, which features Yahoo!’s industry-leading fantasy sports platform.
"Thanks to FIFAworldcup.com we are offering a one-stop destination for all information on and around the FIFA World Cup in nine languages," said FIFA president Sepp Blatter. "The unparalleled coverage produced by 50 FIFA editors coming from 20 different countries and the wealth and depth of content on FIFAworldcup.com have been recognised by football lovers around the world as the best place to follow the event online."
This tournament marks the first time that video highlights of FIFA World Cup matches have been free on the Web, and fans have taken full advantage of this opportunity to watch and rewatch the best moments of the matches.
FIFA and Yahoo! plan to distribute weekly traffic results each Monday during the tournament, with a final traffic report to be released shortly after the final match in Berlin on 9 July 2006.
