Malta FA in a first TV rights bid

The Malta Football Association (MFA) will award exclusive live broadcasting rights for two seasons of Premier League competitions.
This move will end MFA's decades-old relationship with the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS), and change the way local television viewers will watch the matches.
It was made public at the last MFA council meeting that the association issued tenders for the next two seasons for the transmission of local matches and match summaries. The tenders will be divided into five packages and close on 8 May.
All media rights under the new plan will be available in the marketplace, meaning mobile phone operators could be able to feature the matches. Another possible scenario is that a broadcaster might show all the Premier League on a pay-TV channel.
The MFA opened up the rights offering by including television rights, radio rights and video highlights in five different packages. The MFA had previously sold all rights to PBS.
The new contract also will bring a number of duties, including the use of four different cameras at the matches.
