Bob Murray, the chairman of the Championship Club for 20 years, said he would be willing to sell all or part of his 56.8 percent share of the club provided it was “in the best interests of the Company and its shareholders.”
According to a BBC report, former player Nigel Quinn might be interested in taking Murray up on his offer. The report says Murray has spent several weeks looking at the viability of the club before making a bid. Sunderland has not commented on the reports, and the BBC said Quinn has not opened talks with Murray.
