After being thrown out, then let back in, clubs Alania Vladikavkaz and Lokomotiv Chita have been expelled from the country’s First Division after a ruling by the Russian Football Union (RFU). The teams were originally expelled in February because of financial irregularities. However, the Russian Football Professional League (RFPL) let both back into the First Division last month. The RFU then overturned the decision.
“We did all we could but what can you do if the court decides that such structures do not exist?” RFU president Vitaly Mutko told the Sport-Express daily.
The RFPL had already changed its fixture schedule. Alania is now trying to join the Second Division South.
