Infront Sports & Media, FIFA’s worldwide TV distribution partner, has settled the broadcasting rights for Poland, the last country to settle TV rights for the tournament. Public broadcaster Telewizja Polska S.A. (TVP) and commercial broadcaster Telewizja Polsat S.A. will combine to air all 64 matches.
TVP will broadcast 32 matches live on free-TV, including all Polish national team matches, the tournament opener and the final on June 9 in Berlin. TVP has the largest audience share in the country.
Telewizja Polsat was granted rights to 32 free-TV games, excluding the matches granted to TVP, along with all 64 games for pay-TV.
Oliver Seibert, an Executive Director of Infront, said: “We are very pleased to announce the signing with TVP and Polsat. Poland was the last of the 32 qualifying nations to reach a broadcast agreement for the 2006 FIFA World Cup. Fans in Poland will be able to fully enjoy the variety of FIFA World Cup coverage, both on Free- and on Pay-TV.”
