GolTV Canada goes on air

Insight Sports launched GolTV Canada, the country’s first 24-hour a day football (soccer) channel. GolTV is an action-packed channel that will satisfy the most enthusiastic of football (soccer) fans. With a program lineup that features over 1,500 live matches each year, GolTV has rights to broadcast the best football (soccer) matches including UEFA CUP, World Cup Qualifiers, Brazilian Cup, and league play from Italy, Spain, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador and many other countries.

GolTV offers viewers the excitement of live matches, action-packed highlights, informative programming, live daily newscasts, and all the goal action from the most important leagues around the globe.

In 2004, over 825,000 Canadian football (soccer) players were registered with the Canadian Soccer Association, making soccer one of the most popular sports in the country. In addition, Canada is home to a large multicultural population including large Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and Latin American groups. These and other avid fans revel in their love of the game and they maintain strong cultural ties to some of the greatest football (soccer) playing nations – Brazil, Italy, Portugal, Mexico and others.

The channel will be offered free for the first few months. Insight Sports is currently in negotiations for carriage on Bell ExpressVu, Starchoice and others.
