President Michael A. Roth has reported that the Bundesliga club has finished the 2004/05 campaign with EU 600,000 deficit. “I have to point out that we reached the targets we set ourselves for 2004/05. “We did manage to stay in the Bundesliga and resisted the financial pressure to sell some of our key players, while we also turned the focus on bringing in young players.” The club, who reported a deficit of EU 2.3m in 2003/04 – their first season after winning Bundesliga promotion in May 2003 – are plagued by short-term debts of EU 3.8m and long-term liabilities to banks of EU 7.4m.
