Israel Football Association is suing Charlton media

With the battle over broadcast rights still waging between the top Premier League clubs and the Israel Football Association and between television companies JCS Sport and Charlton, another twist in the tale was unveiled when it transpired that the IFA is suing Charlton for NIS 2.5 million.

Charlton, partly owned by players' agent Pini Zahavi, won a tender for broadcast rights to Israeli league and cup games at a cost of $ 13.5m a season for a period of three years. However, the two sides are currently in arbitration and the IFA claimed $ 0.5m million from the company in back payments and interest. Charlton paid only $12.2 million of the total amount paid last season, but claims it has the right to offset the money owed to the IFA against a debt owed it by Israeli football's governing body for a deal brokered two years ago. Charlton is also claiming against the IFA that its failure to set up a designated pay-per-view channel for Israeli league and cup games has caused the company some $ 5m in damages.
